So recently the pickups in my epi sg goth died....they still work but they literally can't distort at all. i've been planning on getting some pickups anyway so can anybody tell me the best metal pickups on the market. i was thinking about the dimbucker and i already have emgz in my jackson so i don't want to have to bother with all that battery crap so i don't really want them. i just want the most high gain distortion pickup out there. thx

pickups don't normally "die".

i'd look into other possibilities as to what might have gone wrong before investing in new pickups.

No Dimebucker.

If you want nothing but high gain for metal AND NOTHING ELSE, go for more Blackouts. Yes, they have a battery, but the tone makes up for it IMO.

But if passives are your thing, pop some Dimarzio D-Activators/ Super Distortions or maybe some Seymour Duncans.

However, if you want the most "high gain" pickup, you cannot beat actives.

check the connections to your guitars jack, or maybe its something to do with your pots
but regardless, look at a seymour duncan JB for the bridge..it think SD says its the highest output passive...look at dimarzios too,i dunno what models, but someone will mention them for sure here...air norton might the ones, or tone zone..i dunno much about them

+1 to what he said /\

But otherwise, Dimarzio makes the passive super distortion.

i wont go for a Dimebucker. i'd rather choose a Custom or Custom 5 for an SG.
they're perfect for metal and other genres.
also look into Dimarzio D-Activators and Super Distortion.
oh, look into the Duncan PATBs as well. the PATB Distortion is really good.
Ibanez RG321MH (Air Classic/Tone Zone)
Fernandes Telecaster (Twang King/stock bridge pickup)
Blackstar HT-20 (Scumback 55 speaker/ Tung Sol tubes)
