There aren't many hardcore bands in Wilkes Barre. More punk than hardcore... but anyway, here's some harder bands from PA :

Gray Ghost
We Were Skeletons

When it comes to punk, however, there's..

The Menzingers (best by a long shot.)
Shock Value
Captain, We're Sinking
Tiger's Jaw
Title Fight
Like-father, like-son rebels bloated on korn, eminems and bizkits. Lord hear our prayer take back your Amy Grant mosh-crews and your fair-weather politics

Mother Of Mercy
War Pigs

also my friends band Burdens (myspace.com/burdenspa)
they just came out with their debut ep, its fast angry hardcore, kind of sounds like cursed meet converge
