Ok.

So, I realllllly want to get a resonator guitar.

The problem is, I also really want to be able to plug it in.

Now, Dean has the Chrome G, which is about 600 dollars, new. It has a lipstick pickup. I was wondering, could I just get a cheaper metal (be it copper or steel) bodied single cone and stick a lipstick or minibucker pickup on it and wire a tone pot to it?

Has anyone done this? Thoughts?

Because I want to plug it in to an tube amplifier and have tube overdrive when I play it.

I like the sound of a steel resonator through a tube amp.
