I found a guy who's selling one of those amps for $150... I can't miss the chance, but I'm wondering, is it possible to get a harsh tone using distortion pedals or whatever it's needed?
Fender Jaguar -> Polytune -> Diamond Compressor -> Timmy -> OCD -> Big Muff -> Line 6 M9 -> Sonomatic Cheddar -> Spark boost -> Fender BDRI

Why would you want a harsh tone? Ew.

I'm guessing you mean heavy? Anyway, it's possible to get a heavy tone out of any amp with the right pedals... The Classic 30 is; well, more classically voiced, but with a good OD it could get some decent metal tones or you could play it clean with a decent distortion pedal to try to cover up its voicing.

For $150, you honestly can't go wrong though. That's a great price.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

$150 is a bargain for the peavey classic 30, id buy it, try it, and if worst comes to worst you could easily sell it on for $150 or even make a profit provided theres nothing wrong with it

Ask Greg Ginn.

Yeah, definitely with an OD.

You may want to get a little EQ pedal to add some low end as well.
