I LOVE THE ROOTS.

I just got the new album, it's killer.

Also: Erykah Badu, A Tribe Called Quest, Common, Rhymefest, Kweli, and Mos Def.

In fact, a whole lot of NY Hip Hop is Jazz influenced. Chicago stuff, too.

^good stuff, but the Jazzmatazz series goes pretty downhill after vol. 2. after that they're a bit more mainstream with r&b stuff going on. If you want some classically influenced hip/hop try the Deltron 3030 album. classic.

You should feel bad for making up a statistic. =P

If any of you get the chance to see the Roots live, definitely take it. Amazing show with lots of energy, very unique. I would say that it was my favorite concert but I've seen Buddy Guy, lol
