Like in Take This Life by In Flames, the pre chorus... How do I play these separately with a pick? Or do I play the string in the middle as well, only it's muted? thanks

You can either use your middle finger to sound g string as you pluck the a string, which is impossible if the tempo's to high. Just mute the middle string with your first finger (fret hand of course)

I mute the middle string with my index finger or my first finger I'm using to fret the lower note.

So effectively its this:

|-----------------|
|-----------------|
|---7--7--7--7----|
|---x--x--x--x----|
|---5--5--5--5----|
|-----------------|

In classic music u cant call chord.. cause thats just octave interval, chord is 3 ore more than notes.

about that:

e-----------------------|
h-----------------------|
g-------7-7-7-7-7----|
d-----------------------|
a-------5-5-5-5-5----|
e-----------------------|

the string D just make mute (in tab "x" ) and there u can't listen any another notes except octaves.

if u cant play mute note, u can play in this form:

e-----------------------|
h-----------------------|
g-------7-7-7-7-7----|
d-------0-0-0-0-0----|
a-----------------------|
e-----------------------|

or

e-----------------------|
h-----------------------|
g-----------------------|
d-------2-2-2-2-2----|
a-------5-5-5-5-5----|
e-----------------------|
