Okay, I'm looking to get a Gibson SG, but which one is best?

Don't bother about cost, cos I can save up

Im looking at either the standard, 61 re-issue or angus young signature or any other Gibson sg spec guitars around the £1000 mark...

The one you feel is the best.

It's not: higher price = better guitar.
Try them out.

I really liked the '61 reissue when I tried it, IMO it's better than the standard, but yeah try them all out for yourself, because all of the ones you mentioned are very nice, so it really boils down to preference.

Okay, its just the guitar shop local to me (pro music tech, salford) Doesn't have the Angus young, but thanks for the advice....

Im guessing they are all good for different things...?

well they all sound fairly similar, the '61 seemed to have slightly hotter pups than the standard and the Angus Young sig is good for getting AC/DC type tones (although really any SG can do that with the right amp)

In addition to the different PUs, the '61 RI neck profile is slimmer/less rounded than the Standard's and the '61 RI's higher fret access is slightly better. Some prefer the Standard's more rounded neck profile while others ... etc., all down to personal preferences.

One thing though, you'll love whichever one you end up buying.
