How much different are jazz strings to "regular" (non-wound third) strings tone wise?

Sorry if this is the wrong section.

i always play with a wound third string because i grew up playing acoustic,
so it feels more comfortable me

and i dont play jazz either i play mostly classic rock, hardcore, and punk
and the strings sound great for me,
