Topic.

I was just thinking about it. But how much would it cost to get a minor color change on a guitar from a custom shop? Just hypothetically thinking something. But lets say I wanted to get something like the Schecter Synyster Custom that is a solid black but with "pimp stripes" as GC.com says lol. How much would it cost for me to have the schecter custom shop to change the stripe color from white to red?

Well they can't just change the color on one part of the guitar, especially something like stripes. They'd have to repaint the whole guitar.

Plus it says on their site that their custom shop doesn't modify or build any diamond series guitars which includes the Syn custom...

There are professionals who do repaint guitars, but I know many of their prices start in the $200-300 just for solid colors, so yeah...

A custom finish can be very pricey, but it all depends on the difficulty as well. The best thing to do is to get a hold of the Schecter Custom Shop and ask them.

Ahhh man don't tell me that lol.

Was considering the Synyster Custom but I thought it would fit my expectations for looks perfect if I got the one that was used in Beast and the Harlot. Red happens to be my favorite color as well lol.

Figured something like changing the color of the pinstripes would be a minimal price increase.

Actually just found this out but the synyster custom is just a redone version of the hellraiser avenger. I don't think it's part of the diamond series.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news (again), but the Diamond series refers to every mass-produced Schecter, which includes the Avenger.

You can look for yourself: Wiki time...

The Schecter Custom Shop and the Schecter guitars you usually see are run by what is pretty much two separate companies. The only thing that ties them together are the name and and a couple shapes...

So is there no way to get this guitar with red pinstripes? Like no way ever?

You'd have to pay a luthier to do it, or attempt it yourself.

^ this

Or you could have Ran build you an entire guitar with that paint job. It wouldn't be cheap though (nothing is...).

A luthier is a person that builds/fixes up guitars professionally.

There are guides on how to paint it yourself. It basically comes down to sandpaper, spray paint, painters tape, and a lot of patience. It takes some practice to make it look decent.

EDIT: Ah damn, beaten by someone who can rhyme...

Prices tend to start at about $200 for a solid color.

So let me get this straight.

Let's say I buy the guitar.

Whenever I'm ready I can bring it over to a luthier to change the color of the pinstripes?

No. They can't repaint just the stripes.

They'll have to repaint the whole guitar, which could easily cost about $400 to do.

I see.

Well since this is all hypothetical what do you guys think my best option would be?

If you really want to it won't be cheap. Unless, you have some painting experience you can do it yourself, there is a shop online that sells guitar paint (can't think of the name right this second).
#24
I think your best option would be to stop worrying about what color the stupid pinstripes on your guitar will be and get an amp that will sound good with it.

To stop worrying about it and get a better guitar instead.
