I just Got one of these things, And I don't know why people say that you cant get metal tone's out of a Valve King.

This is perfect for metal

Umm.. everyone i've heard seems to think that the distortion is all they are good for... But depending on the metal you are playing, your opinion will differ.

I dunno man sounds good to me.

Sure when I play some 2000 Amp it will be amazing but I cant afford it

yea the VK seems to have decent cleans for me. I really like the overall sound. i'm gonna do a speaker swap to make it even better but right now its not unbearable.

I mean, its a great amp for what i paid for ($375USD)

I got the 112

Got it off eBay for 225 USD :P

I dont really like the sound of the distortion onboard so I use a Metal Muff infront of it and LOVE he sound.

eh i htink metal muffs are alright but just a bit fizzy. the best thing to do would be to buy an OD and a EQ pedal before upgrading a speaker. those will give you the most dramatic tone change.

Yeh, the Valveking is not for everyone, but I love mine.

to acdcrocks: If you can find an F-30 for the price of a VK, tell me.

EDIT: just noticed he got the 212, In that case an F-30 would be better. The VK 112 is great for people with a small budget who need a new amp immediatly (like I was )

Well, congrats then. Throw a couple of WGS V-30s in there. that really cleaned up the OD on mine

It's been a while since I played a VK but I seem to remember both of the channels were usable at least, neither was really anything special but they get the job done.

Congrats on joining the tube brigade though

I didn't like the distortion for anything except heavy stuff. The cleans were pretty good, but the bright switch will make your ears bleed from treble.

just got my VK112 the other day, 1st tube amp as well, and i think its great! im running a Bad Monkey in front, and that opened up the tone some, so overall it sounds sweet and heavy, smooth and crunchy, just niiiceeee....
