So, i was chillaxing playing some fade to black (the chorus solo's clean cause i dont own a chorus pedal) and was listening to Kirk's chorus/flanger tone, and i love it, so, i google searched, no specifics, then i searched the forums, turned up nothing, so, im taking the question to my palls, does anyone know which chorus pedal kirk used in fade to black?

thanks,
love you long time

hmmmmm, come one, somebody has to know, every chorus pedal i've ever heard sounds so sterile and dead with no tone at all, his sounds like and actualy guitar instead of a synth

Well, in live shows... almost every one, James uses an AMPLIFIER called Roland Jazz Chorus for the intro.

That one.

Do you talk about the lead tone? on what track?

ummmmm, pretty sure i said the studio version of fade to black, and i said KIRK'S tone, which implies lead

kirk doesn't have flange or chorus on during the intro lead. it's a delay set to a short time, with like 1 or 2 repeats to add thickness to it. James' clean sound is a Roland Jazz Chorus, with the chorus engaged.

lol, sry :P well, you did not say anything about the studio version.

well. He used more marshalls back in those days. But i don't know if there is a chorus going on in his solos (?)

He generally favors Roland and rocktron for effects. You should also check out the Electro harmonix small clone.

Tabs are often incorrect. I can't feel a chorus in the sound. Maybe some delay, which they used very commonly.

if you put a good, hot pickup guitar on a Marshall plexi with a Ibz Tube screamer, you might get the sound you're looking for.

TS, you DO realize that tabs aren't the holy grail of guitar, right? they're often wrong and full of errors (actually, I was looking at that EXACT tab since I realized I liked Fade to Black [like most 80s Metallica] and never learned it), and there's no flanger on Kirk's part. There may be some subtle flange on James' part, along with obvious chorus, but that's about it; just delay for the lead.
