Hey, I've been looking for a new guitar for ages now, and looking on here, so are alot of other people. But i dont really know what to look for or where!

Im heading towards an ibanez, although a jackson and mavericks have been recommended to me. Deans are nice but out of my budget which is £400-500.

Id really love a nice looking guitar with some EMG pickups? And a double locking trem/floyd rose?

I play a variety of music, leaning more towards metal though.

Help appreciated

what type of music, not just variety and metal. And what will you run it through?

i find ibanez good for soloes, but an all around good guitar for standard amp and a little heavy style i must say is les pauls, even epiphones, especially with EMG pickups-

The Yamaha RGX520 is £280.99 and is amazing, take a look for yaself... The pickups are built for higher gain as well which is up your street. All top notch woods as well all Mahogonay with a flamed Maple top = Tone heaven.

i wouldnt buy a yamaha for sheer embarrassment.

I find its always best to buy from a company that specialises in JUST ONE THING. Yamaha make bikes, keyboards e.t.c. Its best to go for a pure guitar brand. Tend to know more about what they're making.

Epiphone Les Paul with EMGs is a fantastic guitar, on GAK for £399. Search

Then, put bluntly, you're a bit of an idiot.

Yamaha make excellent guitars.

yamaha makes the best electric pianoes, but the sound on their guitars are kind of, uhm. Nothing special.

les pauls have a nice round sound, sg's have sharp trebly sounds, ibanez has great sustain value. its all about taste and style.

Agile has some a couple very affordable guitars with EMG's.

Regarding Yamaha, they make some excellent guitars. The Pacifica being a prime affordable example. Both Mike Stern and Ty Tabor are (or were) Yahmaha endorsees.

1. Have you played a yamaha
2. Yamaha has some of the best quality control around. My yamaha starter guitar = better quality, sound, durability, and tuning stability than my friend's epi LP and SG. And I mean this is a floating bridge vs hardtails. They have the highest quality/price ratio that I'm aware of.

If you don't want to get one simply because you don't like the name, thats fine. But don't try bashing something you know nothing about.
i have a 'white guitar'

if you don`t care about trem or fixed bridge.. find a ESP/LTD EX 400 my nephews got one and it`s INSANE, awesome guitar.

the BC Rich WMD Warbeast is also a insane guitar, neck thru, OFR, ebony fret board, high gain Rockfield passive pickups, (but there not EMG`s) but still sound really good.

Classic rock, blues, metal mainly. I have a Small Marshall amp .

Thanks for all your help guys, I really like the look of that Jackson DKMG, but im not too sure if theres any other guitars with a better price:quality ratio?

Played a Dean Razorback yesterday, was truly awesome. Shame it was £800

I still really would love a floyd rose trem, or id go for a Les paul or something.

Anyone know much about Mavericks? Apparently they rival Ibanez, the british alternative? They have really strong magnets in the pickups also apparently. What do you guys think?

The Yamaha SG2000 was good enough for Carlos Santana - that tells you all you need to know about their sound.

^what do you guys think of these?

And this -> (http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/dk-mgt/1261) What are the differences? Hmm, jacksons are looking better the more i look at them :P

This ibanez too, http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/ibanez-s520-ex/8883

Looking back, theyre pretty similar, i just need some persuasion to go for one of them

Thank you Seagull! Yamaha make some of the best guitars out there, stayner have you ever played the RGX Series? They are pretty much flawless and the 520FZ is superb for the styles the TS has listed. TS if you can get your hands on the Yamaha give it a feel and play a few chords and test its bite.
