I have my dad's old Ampeg Gemini G-12 (1x12) from 1968 when he used to play.

It sounds awesome and all, but I have one quick question.

What wattage is it?

Once at GC I was talking to a guy (an employee, not some yay-hoo). I showed a pic of it to him, and he said it was probably a 20W or 30W since its only a 1x12. He said it MAY be 50W, but that's a lot to pump through one speaker. Could it maybe be a 40W like the Fender Deluxes?

What wattage is it? How do I tell (other than hooking an oscilloscope to it)?

right Metallica is a given. Personally I like to pretend the bus exploded and killed them all in '86.

The Gemini I was cathode biased, so you'd get about 20w from those 7591s. The Gemini II was fixed bias so you'd get around 30 if that's what you have.

well it just says Gemini G-12. The 12 is from the 12" speaker i think. if not, its probably fixed-bias since it still works and tubes never been changed.

If it doesn't say Gemini II, it's a Gemini I, and therefore should be cathode bias and 18 watts. I'm fairly certain all the Is were cathode bias.
