I havn't seen Sphere but it is an absolutely fantastic book, I highly recommend it, its one of my all time favs. other Chricton books are great sci-fi pieces.

28 Days Later?? horror but sorta sci-fi... eh not really.
you like space sci-fi? let me introduce you to... Star Wars :p
but seriously, you should check out 2001: A Space Odyssey - creepy, werid, and thought provoking.

Pitch Black is one of my favorite movies of all time (after resivour dogs). Vin Diesel is such a Badass in it. It was waaaaay better than the chronicles of Riddick imo

No. That and its worthless sequel both failed horribly, and I recommend that everyone refrain from watching either of them in the future.

The Matrix, of course.

Only the best movie ever made.

I also adore The Day the Earth Stood Still, Minority Report, Equilibrium, and everything ever done by the Wachowski brothers.

I saw this one movie on the Sci-Fi channel that was actually reallly good.

It was about these people that were participating in a scientific experiment to not sleep for like a month or something. Anyhow instead of sleeping they would get these adrenaline shot things at certain times of the day and that would keep them awake. Anyhow they kept on getting these shots then after awhile the people started hallucinating usually including some traumatic moment earlier in their life. They started getting physically hurt from these hallucinations because their mind started making it real because sleep and dreams were how the mind dealt with traumatic events and got people through it.

Does anyone know what movie I'm talking about or happen to know what it's called? It was a really good movie I thought and wouldn't mind watching it again.

Does the M. Night Shyamalan movie Unbreakable qualify as sci-fi? If so, I think it deserves a mention.

Event Horizon

Epic sci-fi horror

Thats the movie that kept me awake on halloween night in seventh grade

Good movie though

xxunder-takerxx - how did i forget cloverfield? Awesome movie!

Star wars trilogie is good , but i consider it to "blockbuster" and dosent have "the feel"

And matrix i dont consider very sci-fi, more action actually, and i never really cared for that trilogy so...

As good as the Matrix seemed with all its philosophical nature it was pretty average on some degrees. Groundbreaking yes, but it gets quite tedious. But hey, so does Star Wars but I'm still a fan boy.
