yeah, but if you put them in e standard, the tension is gonna be high and not as easy to play on.

nah, 11s will be tighter than 10s, obviously, but they will sound a bit brighter and thinner. its all up to sacrificing fat chunky tone for being able to tune in standard with ease. insted of fat and chunky, you'll get bright chunky tone...lol

i use 11s right now and when i drop them to B they really loose i personally dont like that thats why i said 12s and DRs cause DRs are bendable and easy to stretch u should be able to tune to standard e without a problem as long as u stretch them out first of coarse. then again bjovi400 here sounds like he has more experience than i probably have so he might know what hes talking about.

wat do u guys think about the hybrid string packs u noe the ones wif the heavy low strings and lighter high strings?
#13
either way, strings EA and D will still be very tight. i say try both 11's and 12s and see which you prefer

Yup, I'd go with what he says, its a matter of comfort, each guitarist has his own preference over strings, gauges and what not
#16

EDIT: would the jeff healey signature strings by DR work?

if you set it up properly at the nut, truss rod and action, everything will be fine.

kool ill try the boomers first then maybe the progressives. why do u like the progressives though?
#24
i like the progressives cause they lasted longer than my previous strings, daddario. they were easier to bend and the tone was bright, not too bright, just exactly what i wanted. i preferred them also because the bass strings were very crisp. you get tha point.

but still, its all about preference. i suggest try buying several packs of different brands. i've tried Daddario, GHS, some cheap Alice strings, and Rotosound. out of all, i preferred the GHS Progressives 10-46. by the way, i use the same gauges for all.

#26
uhhh...a pack of strings isn't that expensive, but here it is somewhat expensive due to exchange rates. about $6-10 dollars a pack.

In that case, I vote 11-52s (With a plain 3rd).

Many sets of 11's come with a wrapped G as opposed to a typical plain G. If you play any leads that involve that string, you're not going to be happy with a wrapped string.

If rhythms are your bread & butter though, there's nothing wrong with a wrapped G.

I believe most dean markley's come with both.

A friend of mine uses their Medium sets religiously. Good life, decent sound, good feel.

12's are fine for standard. Y'all are just a bunch of pussies.

i dont mind getting 12s but im just worried my neck would bend.

Its going to pull a bit when you put 11's on too. You're going to need to adjust the neck one way or the other.

I just don't see the purpose in making an instrument exceedingly difficult to play.

^^ yeah its like trying to shred on a acoustic its possible but you rather not.

now im contemplating whether to get my guitar set up at the shop or ask my guitar teacher to do it for me for free. lol. i might just get it set up at the shop because im in my school holidays and school isnt open till the 30th i think, and i kinda need to learn this song which needs drop b tuning and my guitar sounds like mud when i play it with the strings i hav now, and i just cant play when my guitar sounds bad.lol
