I've tried google, I've used the search bar, maybe it's worded awkwardly. This is my question: How can I find (Or is there) a 100% accurate way to tell what finish a guitar has?

Oh, finish the guitar, then spill whiskey and coffee on it. Lock in dank basement for several years, enjoy.

don't forget feces. i always get that on my axe somehow.

But how? I'm not that familiar with different finishes.

Nitro burns, poly doesn't. You know what to do.

Seriously though, you can dent it a little with your fingernail. Nitro is soft and will yield easily, poly is harder and might give a little bit but not nearly as much.
