I beleive in a mix of evolution and creation...I believe that god created the cell with its plan to grow and evolve as it has...I know it must be classified as a type of religion...does anyone know the name?

i saw this same thing on the Colbert report, it's jus Christianity, but you just think the part about the 6 days is a metaphor of evolution.... that's what i believe in. Since the bible has all kinds of metaphores in it, why can't that be one.

As a Christian I believe it is possible, but I don't believe it happened that way. Why blow off hard evidence of something that's real? I think the 7 days thing is just a way of saying it happened in steps, and didn't all just appear in the blink of an eye.
#17
I don't think it is Christianity, unless you think that Jesus is the holy profit. Muslim, Judaism, and Chrisitanity all believe in the same god. It is the profit that is different.

I thought intelligent design was anti-evolution?

It says that things are as they are and have always been that because they were designed. Whereas evolution says that such design is the product of natural selection and has changed over time.

Natural selection doesn't conflict with evolution or intelligent design.

Why do you feel the need of labeling every belief??!

Yes. And I don't know why everybody came up with Christian, believing in god does not = Christian.

And I believe there's a Religion thread in which to talk about this, yeah?

Natural selection is evolution.

Evolution is often used as a rebuttal to claims of intelligent design.

I think the same. I believe that god created the primary organism or whatever came first and let that evolve into everything else.

For no good reason. The 'intelligent design' might very well be evolution.

No.

Agnostic is when you believe its impossible to prove or disprove God.

No. There are several prophets in Judaism. Christianity accepts Jewish prophets. The difference is that Jews don't accept Jesus as the messiah. Muslims consider Jesus a prophet, but not the messiah. They beleive Muhammad was an important prophet. Christians don't accept Muhammad. Christians generally beleive that there are no more prophets after Jesus.

Anyone who calls themself a christian / jewish and believe in evolution makes me ROFL. Anyone who has studied the text knows how the words that are used in genesis knows that it can't only mean 6 days with 1 day rest. Does not mean that alot of people say they would believe in evolution but then they really don't understand how it is written.

So you are gonna blow off evolution but not the idea that an all powerful being created everything? That makes no sense. The idea of Christianity is more ridiculous than evolution, but I believe in both.
