All the lights except this computer have JUST turned off in this room, and I was wondering how light makes light... like... what creates it? (energy), but how? And why does it brighten things? Confusing, but interesting.

And I thought our Nova Scotian educational system was bad..

It depends on what kind of lights you're talking about though. Just google or wikipedia whatever type of light you want to learn about.

If that were true, this room would be brighter than the Sun.

Light is an electromagnetic wave. Same thing as microwaves, x-rays, radio waves. The only difference is that you can see these waves of a certain wavelength. What is an EM wave? Just energy traveling through space, but unlike sound waves, it doesn't need anything to move through.

Well, I'm limited in my knowledge of lightbulbs too because I learned it years back and have forgotten most, but in most cases it is a result of the friction (resistance) in a given metal. This resistance creates gives off several energies, including heat and visible light. That's the case in an incandescent bulb, anyway.
