I have a Squier Strat and a line 6 III 15 watt amp. What's the best way to get an acoustic sound? Oh, and before anyone says buy an acoustic, I'm broke. So not gonna happen.

Don't bother, you won't get close enough to fool anyone, just play clean.

well you're not likely to get it without paying some money.
you could get an Acoustic Modeller pedal but decent ones are about £70-80
it can be cheaper to buy an acoustic, i got my Fender acoustic brand new for £70

wtf is up with those dude who tell the guy to 'play clean' ?

You mean acoustic sound in what bands like Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree do live? Probably buy an acoustic modeller pedal (boss has a decent one), but since you have no many... you should stop spending your money on porn!

You can't get an Acoustic sound without an Acoustic Simulator, even Electro Acoustics don't sound like them when Amplified through a none acoustic amp, the only way is to get an acoustic pedal or if you have an amp like the Roland Cube 60 to use one of the presets on it.

Best way is to have a piezo pickup which will cost a lot.

No, I don't know about Procupine Tree but for DT Petrucci actually has a piezo pickup in his signature guitars which is the same kind of pickup that a lot of electro-acoustics use so it'll sound a lot like an acoustic. He also doesn't put it through the same amp as his normal guitar signal, I don't know if he has an acoustic amp in his Rack of Doom but if he doesn't he probably DIs straight to the mixing desk after a little EQ.

Without spending any money you won't get close enough to fool anyone and I was never convinced by acoustic modellers anyway.

TS: Why do you need an acoustic sound anyway?

roll back the guitar's volume. and if you even consider getting a pedal, then make sure it's something cheap like the behringer acoustic model.
because it's just as good as the boss pedal and about a 1/3 the price.

usually your best bet is a cheap acoustic guitar and a mic or soundhole pup.

I got a HSS strat with 3 push-pull options...
If I pull all three knobs and put my switch to neck+middle pickups...it's like my acoustic plugged in an amp.

I can only think of one or two electric guitars that come with a piezo as stock and they cost about $250 for an after-market one as parts alone, let alone any possible cost of fitting, which, as I understand it, requires drilling extra holes in the bridge and body of the guitar.

My Dean PZ has a floating piezo bridge and my variax has the L.R. Baggs, both bridges would set you back several hundred $$$.

Yeah, best options is to buy a piezo bridge or just get an acoustic. To be honest, if you want to play an electric then upgrade your current gear before you even consider spending money on effects

An acoustic pedal is the easiest and cheapest way. But your spider amp wont like it to much anyways. The modelling amps dont take to pedals well. I have a multi FX with an acoustic setting it does meh ok. But you gotta tweak it for a little while with each guitar to get it to sound decent.
