it'll be trivium, then mastadon, then slayer...

Um, no.

Trivium are co-headlining, so I imagine they'll have the same or similar set length but the order will almost definitely be Mastodon, Trivium, Slayer.

Don't you love people who reckon that quality = popularity?
In a perfect world, Mastodon would be last.....

I don't see how Slayer still sell places out these days. I can understand all the hype back in the 80s, when their sound was fresh, and more out there.

Now it's just recycled, and sad. =/

But, if you're popular, change is basically like dumping acid on your career. *looks at fan reaction to Metallica*

Because it's Slayer.
That's all there is to it.
For every 1 metalfan who has moved beyond Slayer.
There are 40 who will stand up screaming "FUCK YEAHHHH ANGEL OF DEATTTTHHHH!" when they hear Slayer are touring.
To be honest, I haven't listened to Slayer in AGES.
Months at least.
I would still go to this if it came to Aus.

Yeah, I see what you mean.

And I haven't listened to them in....... well, over a year, at least.

Not counting hearing "Raining Blood" on Guitar Hero III.

I'm definatly going to go and see that, most likely in Birmingham, I know Slayer, Mastadon and Trivium are playing, are Amon Amarth too, i've heard that they are.
Anyway i was reading the description on the NEC areana website

As the UK's heavy metal bible, Kerrang!....

oh dear, i'm not usually so picky about these things, but kerrang on mentions the biggest metal bands as far as im aware. Not so many the Little known ones that are just as good

true but tell me you could see imagine Slayer changing their style.
sure they could write about different stuff or add stuff like the slow, eerie riff in seasons in the abyss, but it would still sound like Slayer.
I guess Slayer are one of those bands that are still good even if they do do the same stuff

Well they did actually have quite a lot of metal in the reviews section last I checked, but only bigger stuff for features, as you said.

I like Slayer, because I like to be able to go the mall and have random people run up to me when I'm holding my baby sister and go "**** yeah slayer!" Sometimes it's pretty annoying.
bree bree look how fucking metal i am

I'll probably be going - NEC Arena, Birmingham . How much are the tickets?

i want to go, but the main reason would be for trivium tbh. and there new album is a lose cannon. it could be as awful as the crusade or anything, so im not going to chance it.

Orange Duncan? Congrats.

Amon Amarth and Mastodon on the same stage? Yes please.
Slayer as a side bonus? Why the hell not.
Complimentory Trivium plate? It's free, so why not.
Too bad I can't go lol.

I may aswell just change this to a " The Only Unholy Alliance Thread " shouldnt i ?
#26
I'm really pissed about this. I've seen both Slayer and Trivium before and both are rubbish. I've seen Mastodon three times and want to see them a fourth but I'm not paying over the odds for half an hour of decent music surrounded by tasteless kids.

Why can't Mastodon do their own tour again?
#27
I'm going to the Glasgow date!

This is gonna be one kick ass tour, I've seen Slayer and Trivium before and both were f*cking brilliant. Mastodon need to start touring by themselves though, cos a half hour set just can't have the same impact. Also, very much looking forward to Amon Amarth too

slayer always headline the alliance.
they did on the first, second and third.
slipknot co-headlined the first but played before slayer, the same will happen with trivium.

though im not sure why trivium are playing the unholy alliance...

i agree with the mastodon point, they've been on every unholy alliance tour but ive never seen them headlining a tour in my home town.

however, im left in a state of shock that you think slayer are rubbish live...

I saw Mastodon with Slayer last year and that was like, 80% of the reason I'm now a Mastodon fan. Those songs really come alive when they're....well...live

Maggie, I'm gonna make an annual concert every year since I'm cool.

It's gonna have:

Headling - Trivium
Co headlining - August Burns Red
Co headlining - Born of Osiris
Supports: Evile, Parkway Drive, Architects and Aqua.

Oh yeah

I saw Mastodon supporting Metallica, but unfortunately all I could hear was a big bassy rumble and the occasional bit of amazing drumming or Brent's terrible vocals.

No-one goes home from a Slayer show raving about how well they play or how they hit all the right notes or how good their sense of timing is. They are a crap live band because they just aren't that great musicians.

duncang - have you seen Metallica before? They never let their support bands' soundcrew set up the PA because they're paranoid about being shown up
#37
I likely won't be able to go, but I wish I could. I'm not a huge Amon Amarth fan, but I don't mind them, and Mastadon is a great band, all the live clips I've seen of Trivium sounded really good and I'm getting more into them, and Slayer don't sound outstanding live but they put on a good show.
