are the fender lace sensor pickups passive or active ? i googled for quite a while but i couldn't find any convincing information.

also, are there any other single coil pickups that look like the lace sensors (the pole pieces not showing) that are passive and of good quality ?

They're passive.

Um... EMG's look similar to lace sensors, and there are probably a few other covered ones, but I don't know if they're good quality or what.

Lace sensors are nice though.

passives. Duncans have good single coils. probably, you can put some new covers on it.

^^aren't EMG's active ?

i'm looking for (relatively) low output singles, covered.

^oh, you can put covers (the kind like on emg's and lace sensors) on any pickup without diminishing tone ?

^You may be able to.
On vintage stagger pickups, I don't see how it'd work that hot because it'd be unbalanced.
With flat stagger polepieces, it should work.

There's alot of flat polepiece offerings by SD if you look.
