pushin lightly upon thy fret, same when im playin guitar, namely citizen erased, i just dunno what im doin wrong

try laying your finger very easily barring but not fretting, directly over the 7th or 12th fret. Like you can almost feel the string vibrate but your finger muffles it enough that it rings.

Harmonics are overtones that are in every note. When you split the string at a certain node point that overtone rings out. Common node points are 5th, 7th and 12th. Basically you lightly touch the string at a node point and a the harmonic should come out, while you're muting other overtones.
