Well Audacity is not performing up to par anymore, i need a new recording program and im not sure what to download. it doesnt really matter what program, so long as it fits these requirements-

-Supports VSTI plugins (specifically EZDrummer)
-Compatible with Windows XP, Pentium 3, 256 RAM

Its an old computer, ill be getting a new one soon but i need a program for now. I realize there is a thread here about it, but im hoping someone can give me an answer here. Thanks.

With those specs no program will be "performing up to par".

Cubase SX3 or Sonar 7 should work on your system. If you're planning on getting it illegaly thats no ones buisness but your own, just best not to mention it on here. Hyperthetically lets just say you are going to be obtaining the programs legally, be a bit more specific about what functions aren't performing up to par.

Stick with Audacity. That thing can run on a cardboard box with a wet newspaper keyboard and a silly-string mouse. You need a new PC.

I'd be tempted to agree. I'm sure you want a new program for the vst support, but I think you'll struggle to use EZdrummer with 256MB RAM anyway.

But anyway, for your requirements, I suggest Reaper, a $40 dollar licence gets you full usage.
There is poetry in despair.

Audacity expanded thier vst/i support. Theres a patch you can DL from sourceforge. Its pretty shoddy though, but should work ezdrummer np.
