In my pursuit to find a beer which suits my tastes I've come across Bass Beer. It comes quite recommended especially to beginner beer drinkers. I have no experience with ales.

Considering I'm only 18 and in the states I cannot buy alcohol myself so I need to be fairly certain about what I want and how much it costs.

So, is this a good beer? What is the taste like? Is it easy to find in the states? How much does a 12 back usually go for? Any other cheap beers to recommend?

yes.

What is the taste like?
a more definite hop bite than an american thirst quencher. slightly bready.

Is it easy to find in the states?
as imports go, bass is probably the most common.

I doubt you'll find it in a 12pack. i've only seen 6 packs.
expect almost as much for a 6 as you would for a 12 of budweiser.

I recommend German beer...except for Bitburger...that stuff is gross.

it's been 21 since 1984. 4 states are trying to pass legislation to reduce it back to 18 (legally it can still be 18, you just lose funding form the federal highway dept or something). one of those states is, in fact, wisconsin. wisconsin is pretty much THE beer state. i'm pretty sure teens can drink in restaurants and bars, etc. if their parents consent there.

anyways. i don't know, never had bass beer.

newcastle brown ale is my favorite hands down.

bitburger, my friend had that in germany. said it was hella good.

This is true, but unfortunately my parents aren't quite that cool.

Then he didn't try other beer around here because Bitburger is by far the worst German beer around, Germans don't even like to drink it.

Yeah, I know a couple of them...it's really weird. One really popular brand over where I'm at is Pfungstadter.

Bass is pronounced like the fish not like the guitar. Just so you know.

It's not bad, pretty unexciting though. My own favourites are stuff like Adnams, Fullers, Ruddles, smaller breweries like those. You might have trouble finding them in the States but it's worth it if you can.
