I always thought that Che was a mass murderer, but on wikipedia it says he killed the members of an opressive dictatorship and not innocent people which changes my whole perspective.

I also like how they sell t-shirts and crap on websites (which goes against what he believed in.)

So, am I wrong or what?

I believe he killed innocent searchbars for the republic not using them properly.

Erm, he killed lots of the opressors, but after the revolution ended he continued to kill people...innocent ones.

some people are so ignorant

#15
He did kill "traitors" after the revolution. I guess you can call them innocent as they only spoke up against the new system..

He's still one of my favorite persons in history, because he sacrificed his whole life for his idea of a better world.

They sell the T-shirts because he is an icon for freedom and revolution

I think this generation remembers him as that guy who is on t-shirts and represents why I am angry at my parents for not letting me stay out until 11!
#18
Mixture, he overthrew a fascist government in Cuba, in a pretty brutal guerrilla war, so he did kill members of an oppressive government, but he essentially brought on one of his own - communist, not fascist - and killed many innocent people. I heard he shot a boy for taking too much bread.

#19
The majority of people who say "he murdered innocent people and he sucked" tend to know next to nothing about him.

Also, some of the Che shirts are printed by leftist groups and the profits are used to support their protests etc.
#20
He killed people, yes, far more than I'd personally think justifiable, but there's an interesting documentary/interview with him I've seen/read on this...

and surprisingly, his daughter thinks that those who wear the shirts actually support his cause. Which I think is interesting.

*Waits for primusfan to come*

He may have had good intentions in the beginning but he became a mad murderer. And even in the beginning he wasn't so good.
#22
He's the type of man man half of you whether you like it or not wish you had the balls to be.

You know when you don't like the way things are going in the world but you sit by idely letting everything happen the way it does because you don't think you can make a differance?

He probably never once thought like that, and it's the message he sent that was more important than what he did in my opinion. Without people with that mentallity nothing would ever change in the world.

The basic idea of Communism isnt that bad its just that they should allow their people a lot more freedoms and naturally, there are going to be greedy people that will use the system and not try to further humanity

Man, those are some outrageous comments.

I have always believed that his heart was in the right place. The people who surrounded him and the conditions and experience which he lived through forced him to commit some acts that were both morally wrong and against what he stood for. He was just trying to make the world a better place. In the end, I think power got to him. Even though he never stayed and participated in government after a revolution succeeded, he always moved on and tried to help other oppressed people.

There are some movies and books you can check out, in order to try to form your own opinion.

Don't. Communists are people just like capitalists, they simply have different priorities when it comes to their values, you're post gives off the impression that you're a 10 year old kid with indoctrinated beliefs from your republican parents who has no real idea about anything politics related.

Anyway, Che was a revolutionary and while he did some good things (over throwing an oppressive regime) he did bad things as well, it's up to you to ultimately decide what you think of him (just base your opinion on facts not rhetoric).

The line completely depends on what side of the conflict you are on. Both of those terms are completely relative.

So killing many innocent people as long as it's for the benefit of socialism and communism is heroic?
