They are extremely cliche and kind of corny, but they have some of the catchiest songs i've ever heard. I can listen to their latest album start to finish without skipping a song. They do a very good job of mixing two very different styles.

you said it yourself, so why do you listen to them?

First of all, I enjoy deathcore for it's complexity and it's the only genre heavy enough for me

Thier cover of Kelly Clarkson's 'since u been gone' is quite good if you ask me

I heard that today.. It pissed me off a little bit... I didn't really like it, and I thought it was just kind of a stupid concept to begin with.

1. post-hardcore is the word.
2. they are not a cross of pop-punk and hardcore. they are a cross of pop-rock and metalcore.
3. their songs are extremely catchy, not a big fan of the clean singing choruses though
#16
i have met these guys and they are amazing even though the skill isnt that great they have so much heart and isnt that what music is about these days. who cares if they are cliche they are doing what they love and doing a ****ing phenomenal job at it

if I had to call them anything I would say they are a pop-punk band with hardcore breakdowns. I wouldn't call them metalcore.

in general, post-hardcore gets dumped here, in addition to pop-rock, anyways. Hence the Thrice, Chiodos, Saosin, Thursday threads.

ehhhh....

the whole growling thing really doesn't work for these guys. :/

when they were singing clean, it sounded fine (although generic) but the growls just did not fit the band at all. I almost laughed when I first heard it.

Edit: except on Since U Been Gone. those growls were gold.

Awesome band. For some reason their singer kinda reminds me of Ronnie from Escape the Fate, and idk why.

Monument is an amazing song. I get chills every time I hear it.

Terrible terrible band. Saw them a couple nights ago and it was the shittiest show EVER. Terrible 'catchy' choruses and the same breakdowns over and over again.
#31
i dont understand how this band gets such a bad rap from people. i understand that if you dont like the kind of music they play, thats one thing. but to say that they suck because their not "br00tal" enough is just ignorant. just because they dont have rediculous sweep picking and 7 different riffs in one song doesnt mean they are talentless and have no musical taste. they dont go out there saying how hardcore they are. they know who they are and their lyrics are real. and whats so wrong with having catchy chorus's? since when did having catchy songs become a bad thing? idk how you can say that they in particular are corny, every band is corny in their own way.

but i love these guys so much. the singer may not hit the notes perfectly live like in the studio but, they bring so much passion and energy live. i wish they'd come to my area more often! ATNWT and for those who have heart are brilliant records!
#33
ok, so in your opinion, what exactly do you think they should do to change who they are and change how they write music to apeaze all of the people who think they arent br00tal enough? it'd be one thing if they were claiming to be. they have their own unique style.
#35
Nobody ever said they're not brutal enough, they just suck. They take terrible, generic pop choruses and throw in COMPLETELY out of place, shitty breakdowns for no reason but to appease the crowd. I love plenty of happy music, it has nothing to do with them not being "br00tal," they're just a terrible band.
#36
i honestly dont get where people think that they "throw in breakdowns to apease the crowd". since when is there a rule that you have to be one genre based off of the same ideals that every band in that genre stands by?

I think this band is very catchy, and 16 year old girls love it. Its kind of corny and has a lot of cliche breakdowns. Its like they took 100 things that have been done before and put them together. But they did a good job, i'll definately give them that. They kind of remind me of a poppier version of Atreyu or Thrice.
They have a new album out now apparently, I only heard one song and I wan't feelin it, people tell me its good though.
