Yeah so my parents picked me up a Fender Starcaster(probably from wal-mart i bet). my amp broke easily(sometimes wrong inside), so i play acoustically. I was wondering if this was a good guitar to start with.

no
its not a guitar
its a piece of wood with cheap strings on it.

get a epiphone if you want a cheap guitar.

what you have in your hands is either EXTREMELY rare guitar, or a cheap peice of crap.

does it look like this?

Can't believe some of these replys.

It's fine to start out, anything that is playable is acceptable. I'm sure by 5 or 6 months you're going to want something else, most people do and it's a fine time to switch. But beginner guitars are just that, they are beginner guitars so they aren't a piece of art. You might want to get an amp though. For suggestions you could try the sticky on top of this forum.

don't discourage him...its a starter guitar, thats basically all that can be said...pursue your guitar interest and move up and get some new gear eventually and upgrade like everyone does...is it a very high quality guitar? no. will it kill you? no. if it has strings and frets like a guitar you can learn on it no matter what. thats what starter guitars are for. that doesn't mean that you can't learn on an expensive guitar, but yea i think i got my point across.
