What is the difference between a bone nut and a buffallo horn nut in terms of sound quality, sustain, and ease of working with?

Bone smells when you you sand, cut, shape, etc. I suppose the horn wouldn't.

just did a google search didn't find anything. But by using my power of deduction and common sense, they are both made of roughly the same thing... I dont see how it would make a difference to your ear at all?

id say buffalo horn would be better, simply because it would be amazingly strng and fairly easy to work with, the red indians made all there **** from it and they dont have teh modern tools so cant be too hard to work with

It's no stronger than bone. Frankly, you won't hear much of a difference between the two. Horn polishes to a finer gloss, so I suppose that will have some effect.

Bone is commonly regarded as being among the best materials you can use for a nut. Google it.
