What are you going to be playing?

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

I believe the newer Cubes have this "dyna amp" setting. The harder you pick the more it overdrives. It's less subtle than a tube amp though. My GT8 features a similar setting which allows you to switch from jazzy cleans to a a high gain lead sound simply by picking harder.

I don't think there's really many options out there for $150. You'd probably be better off just saving up some more money.

Don't let those fool you - they won't get that close to emulating the real tube dynamics/pick response.

Best advice - keep on saving. Get to $300-400, sell off your Valvetronix and RP, and then you should have at least $600-700 to work with.

so you're one of those guys eh?
try looking at a Gt-8 or something like that. What you're looking for will only come from a real tube amp, not a pedal with a tube-shaped glow in the dark light.
