This is a work in progress drawing of an alien robot. I did a sketch of it in pencil, scanned it in and redid it in photoshop. Do you think that this (the idea and the basic design) is worthy of going into an art portfolio?

Basically its your own opinion. You have to judge it against everything else you've created. Wheither it be a picture of a tree or a huge mural. If you like it, then into the portfolio it goes.

you should include the development work towards it, or at least a few screenshots or analysis.

*had to do lots of this stuff in college graphic design.

that's awesome, ryan!

rule for art 'folios: DON'T ONLY INCLUDE FINISHED WORK AND "GOOD" STUFF.

show work in progress, ideas, thoughts, plans, everything!

it creates a much more in-depth and exciting 'folio, and is preferred by most people
