hey, i have a peavey:solo amp and when ever i turn on dist., i get a buzzing sound, i no thia is probably normal but is there anyway i can get it to go away?(this happens on all my amps.

Does your guitar have single coil pickups? If so, that's your problem. You could try shielding it to eliminate some of the noise.

If it's the one on his profile, it does.

Try positions 2 and 4 on your pickup selector and see if it goes away.

It's the nature of single coils I'm afraid.

These might help however:

1. Make sure your amp isn't plugged into an extension socket, just go straight into an outlet.
2. Turn off stuff like T.Vs, Computers, Fluorescent (sp?) lighting etc. when you play.
3. Back off the treble a little.

Stuff that will really help:

1. Shield your guitar. Find out how Here
2. Get a noise reduction pedal. Like this

However, positions 2 and 4 should cancel the hum and he said they do on a different amp...so I don't know...
