Let's say v1, v2, v3 are 12ax7, and v4, v5 are power tubes. So say the physical arrangement is v1, v2, v3, v4, v5. Is it okay to add a 12ax7 to the right of v5 (so it becomes v6) and use that for preamp purpose?

Uhhh...what are you asking, exactly?

If you're asking if you can run a signal out of power tubes and into another preamp tube, then no. That'll cause bad things to happen.

The first tube can be a power tube....the next tube can be the phase inverter...then a gain stage...then a gain stage then a power tube.

Doesnt matter how the tubes are postioned. Matters how the circuit flows.

No. I mean is it okay to place a preamp tube out of normal physical placement, but the circuit remain the same? What basically happen is that the power tubes are sandwiched between two halves of a preamp section.

probably a bad plan.

it depends on where the power transformer is located.
putting tubes with small signals on them
close to the power transformer is a dreadful mistake.

That's something I do not know, and yes, it will be close to the PT. Thanks.
