Hey guys. Here's a new song I recorded, called Menoa. I really wanna get vocals on this one, but I'm having trouble learning how to growl Anyways, if anyone has a really good deep growl and is interested in putting vocals, PM me. I can do clean vocals.

Remember, crit for crit so make yours constructive and so will I

The key to the growl is to not force it...let it flow from your throat in a gutteral punch to someones ear cannal!!!

Haha that sounds badass, if only I could actually do that

nice creepy intro. i like your clean tone in this one. it is a bit buzzy, but you're probably in drop c or something insane like that :P some timing issues. but nothing major

i like the clean bit when the drums come in. the drums themselves sounded a bit dry. there could also be a stronger bass presence.

does the distorted guitar have some wah on it? interesting. this makes whatever does happen to be under that damn tree sound really epic.

soloing was good, sounded rather hammet influenced to me. definately good stuff.

me likey. crit mine? https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=902160

That intro is mad creepy. I like it. Like the guy up there said, there are a few timing issues, especially when the drums came in, but those are no biggie and can be easily fixed.

It sounds like you're using an electric for the clean parts. I think it would sound better if you could use an acoustic, that's just a personal preference though. Still sounds pretty good either way.

Music-wise it's very good. I like the soloing, especially the harmonies around the 5-minute mark. Very nicely done. The last clean part (near 6:30 minutes I think) with the transition to the heavy part is really sweet sounding. It makes the heavy part sound really epic. Overall awesome job dude.

Did you record the drums, or program them? And if so, what program do you use?

Way cool man! I really enjoyed this song. The entire song from start to finished kept me wanting more. The overall sound and recording of the song was very good. There were only a couple of things I didn't like. One being all the fret buzz on the clean guitar. It's seems that it was digitally added and doesn't sound natural. The other being the velocities on the drums, particularly the kick drum. It seems that it would sound more real if you were to losen the kick by adding extra notes at low volumes, or just random volume levels on all the kicks. I don't know if I'm explaining myself well enough, but that's my opinion. Oh and towards the end of the song, it seems like you added a little distortion to the bass guitar, which IMO is taking away from the other parts in the song. Maybe it's just too loud, or maybe it's just me.

Overall, a very melodic song, great playing, great use of harmonies, and very creative!!

Good job!

Wadester

Crit this if you get the chance:

Thanks for all of your crits guys!

chrisatgrace, nope no wah on the guitar

bradman2k6, yup i'm using an electric, and if i had an acoustic trust me i'd definitely use it. unfortunately, I don't Yes, I program the drums with guitar pro, then I import the midi file into FL studio, use a plugin for the drum sounds then beef em up with effects to try and get the best sound possible.

wadester, why would I digitally add fret buzz? And about the kick drums, I've been trying to get em to sound better for so long, but I can't do it What do you mean about velocities? If you could help me out, that would be great And also, no I didn't add distortion to the bass guitar at the end, I don't know why you thought I did

Very Opeth sounding. I dont think I could decribe it better than that haha if thats what you were going for then you hit the nail right on the head. Very well executed for the most part. I cant really give any better advice than whats given above. All I can say it that I enjoyed the listen!

*waits for 8 minute epic song to load*

Ill crit as the song goes on.

The acoustic/synth intro is really cool, I like the notes you chose to play with the synth.

Next acoustic part is even cooler, especially when the drums kick in. I can really hear the Opeth in here.

Oh **** heavy, I wanna bang my head its cool. This is a perfect example of how chords can sound badass.

The next riff is alright, but it meets its complete potential when the solo kicks in.

3:12 - I love this dreary heavy tone that you've got going on. How did you get that?

3:45 - This part is cool, but i hear some very slight timing issues. They go away when the drums kick in.

The harmonized guitar part is really cool, and I like the way it ended with the slide and fret noise.

The next acoustic part was pretty cool, but not my favorite in the piece.

When the distortion kicks in with a BUUUM, it sounded really awesome of course.

The harmonized part that follows is very cool, but maybe a little too long.

Overall, a very very well written and recorded piece. I don't really have much bad to say about this.

I really liked the song, if you could get a better sounding clean tone, it will give a little more feeling to the intro.

The riffs are badass and everything sounds well constructed.

I also liked the changes.

Nice work!
