My brother has been looking into buying a Fender American Deluxe Telecaster recently, but before he makes his purchase, he wants to be sure he didn't look over any other guitar. Currently he owns an Epiphone LP and a Gibson SG Standard, mostly playing the SG. He's already played the exact model of Telecaster he has been interested in at two different occasions at GC, but like I said, he wants to make sure he's not skipping over any guitars.

So, are there any other guitars out there similar to this model? His price range ends at just about where the Telecaster does ($1275), and he plays soft rock (Weezer, Ben Kweller, Fountains of Wayne, etc.). Thanks for any help.

He could always check out the MIA Deluxe Strat as well, but the Tele vs Strat thing is personal preference.

Otherwise, I think he's going in the right direction. He already has two humbucker Gibsons, so the Tele is obviously logical. It's a great guitar, so happy buying!

Does MIA mean Made In America?

I actually suggested that my brother consider a Strat, but he's already said he finds them uncomfortable to play while sitting down, so go figure. ><

Thanks for the suggestion though.
