Searchbar turned up nothing, so Im making a thread.

Pit, what are some of your favorite cover songs?
I think Bob Marleys version of Hotel California is amazing, I almost like it better than The Eagles version, because it just fits more in a Reggae style.

Godsmacks version of Good Times, Bad Times isn't to bad either, but it doesn't really bring anything to the song, besides the step-down tuning that makes the song sound more "Bad Times" than good.

umbrella is a kickass cover, i saw them do it live. tight as hell.

one of my other favorites is lagwagon's cover of brown eyed girl.

i'd have to say Hendrix's rendition of All Along The Watchtower? don't know if it counts as a cover cause it's so different, though, lol.

That's what makes it a good cover! I don't see the point in covering the song if it's exactly the same, and I don't get why a lot of people seem to do it.
#11
The Clash's rendition of I fought the Law, then Green Day's version of the same song. Both are covers.

And Fall Out Boy's cover of Beat it was better than I expected.

Tenacious D playing Chop Suey=Epic.

I like this thread for some reason.
Am I the only one who is extremely fascinated by good cover songs?

I was soooo gonna say that.
Taking Back Sunday did a cover too,
It's not half as good as the Goldfinger cover though.

ALL GNR covers are pretty good IMO. I heard someone cover maidens Fear of the Dark. I think it was Graveworm. That was good cover. Maiden is better though.

I was going to say "Dance the night away" by Van Halen, but it appears that David Lee Roth actually wrote it?

Actually I'd have to say all the covers from Goldfingers "Darrins Coconut Ass" are really cool.

Derek and the Dominos' "Little Wing" is far and away the best cover song I've ever heard in my life.
Looking for my India/Django.

David Lee Roth can write?!

jk, but it sure doesn't sound like something Van Halen would've written.

Yep Roth wrote it. He got the idea from hearing Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way."

I agree, it's a classic Van Halen sound though! Great tune.

Johnny Cash - Hurt (NIN cover)
Guns N' Roses - Live and Let Die (Beatles cover)
Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower (Bob Dylan cover)
Disturbed - Land of Confusion (Genesis cover)
Killswitch Engage - Holy Diver (Dio cover)

And as much as I hate to admit it, I'm quite fond of Limp Bizkit's Behind Blue Eyes (Who cover), although it's not even close to the original.
