I am looking to get one of these pedals for when I get my new tube amp. I am wondering, how much better is the TS808? Is it worth the extra money? I've just been wanting to ask that from people who know what they're talking about.

So is the TS 808 not as much of a boost to the distortion?

Oh... And I have no idea how to mod pedals, or anything for that matter.

The original 808 which is really hard to find an 300 or more to buy one has the vintage voodoo attached to it. It also has parts that arent made any more in it. I dont know how the new 808 compares to the ts9. I have the turbo it has more settings than the ts9, but some say its not as warm as the original. Most wont notice the differences anyway.

The 808 is slightly warmer and more vintage sounding but to be honest the difference between the two is really quite small

personally i think no... But you can probably get the Maxon OD808 which is exactly the same pedal except with true bypass for less than the TS-9 so if i was you that's what i'd do!!

I'd get the Maxon OD-9 if I were you. It's built EXACTLY like the old TS9s and it's built by Maxon (who built them back them for Ibanez!)
