I was wondering if anyone had any tips on using an acoustic as a percussive instrument, i've seen many videos and im a huge john butler fan but i've never tryed it, is there anywhere that gives any lessons or tips?

anyone got any advice?

It's something you kind of have to teach yourself, just try playing simple chords with your fingers, so its like chord-bang thumb on guitar-chord-thumb etc

eventually just build up until you get to where you wana be

use power chord add a little muting and thats it


once your really good and after some practice use barre chords

Like when guitarists hit their thumb against the guitar strings so that it hits the fret board on beats 2 and 4? Just swing your thumb down above the bass note you wish to pluck and then pluck down.
