Im off to a local swimming pool, where theres a steam room and a sauna in 5 mins. and I wonder if you prefer the dry heat of a sauna or the... emmm wet heat of a steam room?

Sauna = 70-100 degrees celcius. Extremely hot with low humidity levels

Steam room = Around 40 degrees with extremely high humidity levels

I'm willing to bet that most people here haven't had the chance to visit a proper sauna.

A good sauna isn't dry, and it's supposed to be heated with properly dried, not too dry birch firewood to 80 celsius (176 F) or above. And of course, the only proper sauna is next to a nice lake for cooling off with the help of a 12-pack of beer.


The steam, or 'löyly' isn't dry at all when the sauna is proper.


EDIT: To hell with your 9 volt battery powered 'saunas'

i don't when i'm sweating them so it makes me feel better.
and there are always old, wrinkly men in saunas, and they're the ones that decide to be naked *shiver*
