slayer, alot of bands use drop C#, Queens of the Stone Age and Kyuss are mostly in just plain old C, go to wikipedia and search guitar tunings because i cant remember the rest.
Studies have shown that 92% of guitar players are close-minded. Copy this into your signature if you're part of the 8% who enjoy rap.

1) Play any song in regular tuning 1 1/2 steps down, OR

2) Use a capo on the 3rd fret to play songs in regular tuning

Try there; it's only metal bands but it's a start.

They used C# on Aesthetics of Hate but I think that's about it. Killer song though.

If you put the capo on the third fret,
C#->E
F#->A
B ->D
E ->G
G#->B
C#->e
problem solved
if you're in C G C F A D tuning, the capo goes on the 4th fret....
I think you're just a little confused

If you put a capo on the fourth fret of that tuning you'd end up with a relative tuning of EBEAC#F# which would be, essentially, drop E.

Oops, wasn't thinking straight there, I got kinda confused when he pulled that Drop C tuning on us when we didn't even say anything about it.
But everything else I said is right

Wait, I'm confused.

Would capo on the 3rd bring him back to normal tuning or not? I could swear that I transposed it right...

Yes it would,
C# Standard is the same as E Standard, just 3 half steps down.
So when you put on the capo it evens it out.

<*Puts his feet up*>

On my Variax, I can pick any of these tunings without ever touching the tuners. It's in the alternate tuning immediately and the strings haven't changed tension. In fact, you can tune any string up to an octave in either direction and that remains true.

If the real issue is the re-tuning and "it kills my strings," then maybe the real solution might be to have a guitar that worked better with a lot of alternate tunings.
