I've been trying to teach myself guitar for about 6 months now, and still have no idea about chords. Can anyone help me out here?

And what would some be some good songs to learn? The hardest I can play is the Storm Eagle theme from Megaman X....

Check out Guitar Noise, http://www.guitarnoise.com/

They have lots of song based lessons. They start out with very simple 2 chord songs (#1 is Horse With No Name, 2 really simple chords. I learned it on my first day with my guitar) and go up from there. Additionally they tend to teach several strumming patterns for each song. The majority of the songs are quite old, but they're classics that you can bust out around the camp fire and someone is sure to know.
