My brother wants to try out guitar and he's going to give me 2 6x9 and 2 6 1/2" Sony Xplod speakers that were barely used for one of my guitars. They aren't one of the newer ones but they are in really clean condition.

Now I know these speakers are not the best and some will say stock are better but my question is will these at least be a good upgrade? I don't want a whole lot of ground shaking bass but I'd like more than what is in my truck now as well as some more clarity and less distortion at high volumes.

Also I'll be upgrading the old tape deck to a JVC CD deck though I don't know which model it is specifically. Will this make a difference in the sound as well? As I said I'm not looking for an insanely good audio system or huge subs (single cab so no room even if I wanted) I just want better sound and clarity.

Hell just let your bro have the guitar. Sony xplod's are not the way to go. From what I have heard them in, stock speakers would be better.

Just say like $50 or somethin, buy yourself some decent speakers

It's not a guitar I use regularly so it's not going to be a heart break to trade it off. I mentioned I wanted something else in my truck because what's in there sounds blown or no better than loud computer speakers and he said he had those laying around and might sound better.

I was told JVC speakers are better by a futureshop employee and then someone else told me JVC are basically the same as stock so I'm confused. Can't spend a whole lot if anything which is why I'm thinking of the Sony's even just for a temporary thing.
