how are the cleans on the old jcm 800s?

i know these amps are the **** for distortion and no one really buys them for cleans

07 Fender American Deluxe Strat
07 Fender Custom Telecaster
09 Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster
09 Fulltone OCD V.4
10 Ibanez WH-10 V.2
09 Splawn SuperStock
10 Jet City JCA-20
97 Fender Hot Rod Deluxe

Yeh the SICK! bit sounds a bit stupid.

meh. Better known for their Marshall crunch. Better then the peavey 5150's...but not fender clean.

if it means anything, i'm pretty sure Slash used JCMs for his cleans on both AFD and the UYI illusions albums.

there's a lot more cleans on the UYI albums than AFD though, but they don't sound bad.

The cleans no the JCM's are alright but they weren't made for cleans but if you are really into cleans then i think you should go for a different amp!

Hope you choose one but i would suggest go with the 800 as they are the better one out of the JCM's.

Goodluck!

i'm assuming maybe jubilees are kind of similar to jcm 900s?

right Metallica is a given. Personally I like to pretend the bus exploded and killed them all in '86.

hmmm i'm not sure about that. i wanna say that the silver jubilees were a limited edition marshall series. cuz slash endorsed a re-release of them some years back w/ his signature and snakeskin tolex (reallly sexy lookin'). i think some of his originals got burned in a fire incident along w/ some other gems.

i think they're single channel amps and other than that, i haven't really looked much into them. i know the sound of an overdriven jubilee...but i dont know much about the amp itself....i prolly figured since i'll never afford one any time soon why look into too much? lol dumb reasoning i know

i don't know what other famous artists use jubilees, Slash is the biggest user of them.

I've never played an 800, but I always thought it was a pretty clean based circuit and the dirt didn't come in untill it was really cranked. I'm quite wrong aren't I.

lets just say when jubilee came out it was marshall's golden era. then when they start coming out with avt, mg, jvm they start going down hill.
#20
Keep in mind guys that even if slash is using a particular marshall head, he's got an amp tech that is tweaking it and upgrading the output transformer, tubes, and maybe even caps.....

i used to own a jcm800 combo, nice amp but too bluesy for my taste. i spend around a week playing with it til this guy took it off my hand for the same price i bought it for. after tweaking it around i couldn't find the tone i was hoping to achieve, my switchblade on the other hand. got perfect gnr tone without me even tweaking it. assuming slash was using the jubilee therefore i came to conclusion they are quite different.

if you can't get a descent GnR tone from a JCM800, either a 1 or 2 channel, then there's something wrongs with you and not the amp
