If you don't want to be helpful then don't post.

To the TS, take a look at Hal Leonard series of books for guitar players.

HL is a GREAT resource for ANY instrument.
And Garou, you need to chill man... TS is just asking a question.

And all I did was answer (admittedly, sarcasticly). The searchbar on this forum is an excellent resource that gets overlooked far too often. Instead of waiting for replies he could already have his answer. Also, I don't take kindly to being called a douchebag.

In the interest of being helpful, check out Matt Smith's chop shop. It's a great chord, scale, and basic theory book.

+1, I've bought several of the Hal Leonard beginner books and I've found them very useful, particularly the ones that come with play-along CDs.

Leave Garou alone!

He wasn't being rude, just very frank, and went straight to the point: To let the TS know that there has already been many threads just like this, and it will only help the TS because he wouldn't need to wait for replies and save him time.

In any case, I think Maran's Illustrated guitar is a good beginner book, and I'm currently reading the Complete Idiot's Guide to Music Theory, and really like it so far.
