Who makes and edits videos here? I got into this year because we have a studio at my high school and a couple classes and it's a lot of fun, I'm going to a camp for it in two weeks. I don't have any of my work on my computer now, but I'll post some stuff here when I get it done. Anyway, what cameras, software and everything do you guys use and just discuss film making in general.
I'm the same as I was when I was six years old

I don't really feel anything

Windows Movie Maker.... hehe.
My camera is crappy and I never got around to buying a good one. Used to have Sony Vegas, but lost interest in film making.

I'm in the same boat, I'm using iMovie and an old family canon.

i tried using the trial version of adobe premiere, but adobe slows down this computer so much it's ridiculous. This isn't even a slow computer.

I might save up for Final Cut, or I might be able to get a free copy from my friend, but either way, I think I'll eventually get Final Cut.

Final Cut.

I want Avid too but that means buying a decent enough PC to run it smoothly.. So that may not happen anytime in the near future.

Honestly, 1GB of ram is a little low for video editing, especially when using something like Premiere.

I took a video class last semester and we learned stuff about movie making, 3-act structure, etc. It was quite fun. We shot two short films as well, with all editing done in Adobe Premiere. Although as some have pointed out above ^, it was a pain to work with Premiere considering I don't really have a great PC. It would lag like CRAZY (only 768MB of RAM for me ) and crash fairly often. Annoyed the crap out of me but I still got through it!

As for cameras... I don't have any. I shot my entire movie using my digital camera (A Canon Powershot A540 if you're wondering), the video quality was pretty decent although at maximum quality I could only shoot up to 2-3 minutes at most.

Yay, I might be getting Avid or Final Cut soon, which ones do you guys think is better? I know I can get Avid for like $300 with a student discount which is way cheaper than Final Cut and I know a lot of pros use it, but I know a lot of people love Final Cut too.

My highschool is one of those ones with a series of specialized programs. I'm in the Media Production department, so my life at school is basically video editing.

The teacher sucks

Oh, we use Final Cut Pro. We all had to teach ourselves cause our teacher never worked with it before.

Lucky, I wish my high school offered something like that, we just have one class.

I managed to survive making a few movies with Movie Maker but I'm looking to get Sony Vegas soon.
I have one question though, on Sony Vegas, is it possible to take 3-4 pieces of film and overlap them so they all play at once?
I have a great movie idea, but I need to be able to do that first...
Too lazy to make a sig right now. I'll do it some other time.

I know it's possible to make a ridiculous amount of tracks in Final Cut and I'm sure Vegas has more than one video track.
