Hello Friends,

We've recently redone our custom pickguard website and are looking for some feedback/tips to make it better.

I know there's still more that needs to be done but at the moment I'm having a blank.

Anyone who gives some really good info will be rewarded.

Thanks

I wish i could help, but i genuinely do think that site looks really good Upon first impressions, I'm impressed. I know from last time you posted a thread about these pickguards that I intended to buy one when i finally got round to finishing my strat, and almost definitely still will
Good luck

I know what you mean about the logo, but at the same time I think it's really cool.

SG pickguards are really hard to find (actually made by gibson) but it would be nice to offer SG's.

chea man - come on, i'm not trying to hurt you

well, u asked for help so i am going to give it to you. (btw, if i come off sounding like a dick i am sorry. i dont mean it that way.) anyway, the first paragraph

"We build custom pickguards. We have many of our own original designs available. If you have a design you would like made into a pickguard we can do that too. We can also help you design something new."

is very choppy. It should have a lot more flow like,

Here at Pickguard Corner, we make pickguards for YOU, not the manufacturer. If you want to turn your axe into something personal, instead of what thousands of others have, we have you (and your guitar) covered. With the ability to choose from our original designs, or create a design of your own the possibilities are endless! Thanks for your time!

Its not the greatest, but it is slightly better. I hope i helped out some and good luck with the site.

Thanks foo, i appreciate the time, I like your idea and i plan to rewrite that paragraph, i will use your idea's as guidelines. I still feel like there is something missing from the front page but im not sure what
#11
no problem. glad to help but the front page honestly has everything it needs. the name of your company, what your company does, the special features of your company, and examples of what you can do. maybe you just need to flesh it out more. you know, make it a little more lively
#12
I feel that too, it needs to liven up a bit, I can't figure out what to do right now though

Yup. I've done it a couple times and gotten lots of help from you guys. Web design is hard and lots of us need you for help and suggestions.

TS, The site is easy to navigate and find my way around. Just looking at the front page it seems a bit sloppy to me but I see the same issues with my website. It makes you ask the question, how do you clean it up but still have everything there. Unfortunatly I don't know the answer. I also don't like the logo. I can't make out what it says and the colours distract from the rest of whats on the site. Other than that it's good. Much easier to get around on than many websites I've been on, including my own.
Not taking any online orders.

stevo, yup we ship to the UK

Cord - Thanks, I know what you mean about the sloppy thing, right now I'm just trying to get all the content there, I'll fix everything up soon

foo- funny thing, i was just reading a spawn comic (#9 - written by neil gaiman) - right after i saw your profile it made a sherlock refernce in the comic...yeah...so i had to repeat it.

One piece of constructive criticism i have is the Design Your Own Pickguard page. It's too bare. I think you should have some general instructions on how to use Paint to fit the part of the image you want (like the cat) into the outline of a tele pickguard.

The images of some custom pickuguards you've done (or designed--whichever it is) look sweet. I think it might be cool to offer some simpler pickguards to order, like a checkered pattern pickguard or just one with stripes or something. It would help give people an idea of a design that they'd like.

Good luck with your little business you've got going!

i think the suggestion of trying to open it up more was a good one.

also, i'm sure someone worked real hard on the logo at top (and maybe that was you) but I didn't care for it at all. It kinda looked scarry and made me wonder (and forget) what site I was going too.

i did look at the Strat gaurds you have and they all looked cool and some looked very intricate and involved (kinda like Salvador Dali). I bookmarked it.

i'm sure you sized it on purpose to fit most people's screens but I think it would be a good idea to put some of the gaurds on the borders to left and right. It would add some color to the site and show off more art work right off the bat - you know to catch the eye. Or you could have an animation of a paintbrush painting one of these.

hope that helps and good luck!

I agree totally with the design your own pickguard page, im working on that, im going to have instructions on how to do it yourself and im going to post the files needed.

Thats the problem Im having with the front page logo thing, its so cool, i didnt do it, but someone spent a lot of time on it and it's just so cool, but so many people are saying they cant really read it. I think im going to keep it just because of how much time was spent on it. It's actually like a 30 inch painting. That crazy lady...

I'll have to add more to the front page though

I agree with 311zosohjh. the idea of bordering the page with some of your designs is a good idea. Also, the logo is pretty scary. I thought i was entering some weird halloween porno site or something.

Just kidding.

...But seriously.
