What kind of distortion pedal should I get? Goin to gc tomorrow to pick out a distortion pedal. I was thinking Green Screamer. I;ve heard a lot of good things about that.

I'm mainly into metal, metalcore, some hard rock. Favorite bands include Avenged Sevenfold, Children of Bodom, Pantera, of course all the classic stuff like Metallica, Ozzy, ect.

Yeah. I can choose any single pedal provided their in stock so does anybody have any suggestions?

Carl Martin Quattro Pedal...

What? You said you can choose ANY pedal you please.

btw, amp distortion > pedal distortion unless you compare a cheap amp with a $300 distortion pedal.

I know and as you know I'm working on it. I have a job interview coming up. Lucky that my local movie theatre accepts people my age.

Besides the point I WOULD LIKE a distortion pedal according to my own criteria because I feel that until then I would like to have something better than a low end crap distortion and amp overall. Explained this to my parents and they said I would have to save up for the amp (rect-o-verb) but meanwhile they'll get me any distortion pedal I need seeing as how most go around 99.99.

It's an overdrive, not gonna do metal by itself.

youre listening to your dad, why not listen to us?

GS is an OD and will barely squeeze metal out of a decent tube amp never mind a crate practise amp.

have you looked into the metal muff at all?

crunchbox has been suggested twice, have you looked at it?

Visual Sound Jekyll & Hyde. Two pedals in one. The Jekyll side is similar to the Green Screamer you like, while the Hyde side is a heavier distortion pedal. Excellent bang for your buck.

The distortus maximus is more suited towards classic rock in my opinion....I ordered one after looking at reviews...I had never tried it....man I was so dissapointed

A7X do not use these.

Look at a Damage control- Solid Metal pedal if you can afford it....if you cant....Metal Muff is your best bet.

Do not buy the Green Screamer..it is not what you think it is....it is an overdrive...think Stevie Ray Vaughan....he used tube screamers...which are overdrives.

unless you use an overdrive to push a tube amp for more gain....which you are not.....this will not work for metal

cant go wrong with a metal muff. loads of gain and great build quality and would be good for the genre you play. I forget how much gain a crunch box had when i first tried it mainly, but i remeber thing it was alot but probably because i was looking for an OD pedal at the time. both are definaltey not 1 trick ponies though.

however i just saw the amp you play through. might not sound as good through that.

Saving for a rectoverb during the summer. Going for a job interview in like a week or two. Working at the movie theatre's pays like 7 dollars an hour. If I put in 7 hours a day (regular school day) and work at least 5 days a week I'll make a little over 1000 dollars after 3 paychecks with taxes taken out.
