Sort of inspired by the posts in the Growing Up Too Fast? thread. Post about your childhood so we can all get emotional and remember the good old days... This will either be an epic thread or a fail one but we will see...

Mine was like most in the early 90's. Playing GI Joe, N64, riding around on...push scooters.. and of course watching the greatest cartoons of all time.

I would give anything to have my childhood back. Mostly because of the friends I used to have before I moved. Also the other common 90s nostalgia.

I didn't really enjoy my childhood massively, i'm only a late teen now but looking back theres very little I miss, i'm more looking forward to the future to see what it holds, I miss the innocence of childhood in a way though, the fact that theres was no responsibility and it was all much easier to handle than now a days.

It was amazing. We'd play Pokemon and have fights with supersoakers. Those were the days...
#12
Pokemon, Twisted Metal for playstation. Nintendo 64 was the ****, playing Zelda and Pokemon Stadium and Pokemon Snap.
Ah, The Good Ol' Days..

I have so many fond memories to share, but I'll limit them so that people don't completely dismiss reading my post.

When Military MicroMachines were popular my friends and I used to play with them everyday. We'd set up bases throughout the house and throughout the yard and everyone would get a particular vehicle or action figure robot (not necessarily Military MicroMachine) and we'd pretend to be in it with our "girl" (of course it was only the innocent childhood boys and girls "liking each other" nonsense). Someone would always end up dying, but not before everyone saved some one else first.

Apart from the N64 days, we used to play various Donkey Kong games on the SNES and eat War Heads. One level we always got to in Donkey Kong (forget which one) was this one where you had to throw a barrel at this giant bee three times to defeat it. We did it a couple of times, but never got past the next level.

One of my friends and I watched a Star Wars movie every time we had a sleep over, and always mimicked the Lion from the Wizard of Oz jumping out of the window from the Wizard by jumping from one couch to the other.

Everyone used to collect the Little Green Army Men, except one of my friend's brother's friends, who would use "leftover" people. These "leftovers" comprised of the pieces that we had run over, stapled, put through the ice crusher in the fridge, and did other shenanigans to. They would come out completely mangled, and thus we named them Christian's Suicide Army.

Movies. Very poorly made, but very fun. Generally we used Military MicroMachines that were set up and then destroyed by some freak nature. And then there was Yoo-hoo News (Our hangout group was known as Yoo-hoo, and that's what we all called each other ).

Having week-long wars in the large wooded area by our neighborhood. One of our friends was captured by another army, and as we were going to rescue him he jumped from their back porch (only about six feet high), and we were all, "WOAH!" Of course, nowadays it's not a big deal.

We used to build a shop and house out of Lego and set up a medieval village, that was run by a banker who sponsored quests. Once my friend and I started a gang of pirates and robbed everyone, but then we were put in jail.

In the wooded area there's a creek, and one day some of the older kids (only by a few years, but we would hang out with them occasionally when we were younger, but more so when we were teens) built a dam in the creek. One of the kids, Scott, gave us a "Dam Tour", and would always ask questions related to the dam, but used them as in "damn". We all thought it was hilarious of course. "Does anyone know the dam time?" :giggle:

I could go on and on, but that's enough for now. I'll probably post many more later.

Oh, and pretending to be part of the Star Wars universe with my friend. We'd make up these ridiculously complicated story lines which invariably involved one of us getting a limb chopped off and replaced by a mechanical prosthetic.

I didn't really have a conventional childhood as it seems. I was brought up without my parents for the most part because of their professions. They're both Chinese chefs who worked ridiculous hours. I only saw them at dinner times (twice a day). The rest of the time, I would be in the garden playing football by myself or something and then later, Snooker. I never watched cartoons, made cupcakes, ate chocolate and iced-cream. I never did any of that because I just wasn't all that bothered.
Friends has always been an issue with me - I didn't receive many but not because I avoided them or because I was shy. I have a tendency to befriend everyone so I ended up with mere acquaintances than I did real friends; something which I regret in its entirety. When I look back at my childhood hobbies, I realised that the only thing I was even remotely into was Snooker. In my free time, I received a lot of English tuition because I was a foreigner and I didn't understand English all that well. It wasn't something I really enjoyed but it did pass the time - I was made to write a creative piece everyday for about 10 years.

Now, at my present age, I still have limited hobbies but with the inclusion of Guitar, Music and Koi along with my Snooker (the guitar is fading rapidly). I have a small collection of mates but I like to call them acquaintances. Unfortunately for me, none of them share interest in my hobbies.

I always remember watching Fox Kids on Saturday mornings and then going outside to play with my friends in the neighborhood. We pretty much played games based around those shows. Digimon, Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles, Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog, etc. We also made a canal in my backyard. It took a while to build, actually. And we also played Laser Tag, Super Soakers, and Nerf, and had different types of wars with them. Sometimes, we had battle royales, other times, we had team-based things. It was really fun, because nobody really cared about random kids playing in their yards, so we had several acres of land to stage these epic battles. And everyone seemed to have a large arsenal at their disposal. I remember us filling up like 20 guns per team, and they seemed to come from only a couple of people. If we needed reinforcements, we'd send someone off to run to someone else's house and recruit him and his siblings, if he had any. And then he brought all his guns.

Anyways, Megadrive ftw!

It is quite possible my friend, but I get out once in a while. Instead of showing off my unwashed penis to 12 year old's over MSN like a majority of my friends do.

Watching Thomas the Tank Engine, playing with Legos (I really need to get back into them), listening to the Beatles, pretending to play the drums, playing basketball with my friends, listening to my dad play guitar, watching MacGyver and Knight Rider, playing with toy robots... good times

I remember filling up normal balloons with water and staging epic battles against other kids that would last weeks. Man, those were the days.

mine was from the early 90's the to mid 2000's. i would watch cartoons all day and when i learned how to play video games that's all that i would do. eventually i got bored and started playing guitar. i think my childhood could've been better, but my parents did their best and money doesn't grow on trees.

I remember the christmas I got my N46

I musta been maybe 6 or 7

I got up super early so no one was awake yet and opened one present and it was mario 64 and this was before i opened my actual console.

I felt so guilty all day because of it as I didn't wait for anyone else.

It's so **** how little things like that could make you feel guilty then and now I'm probably so much more of a bastard to my mum and dad but don't feel guilt.

my child hood was awesome...i played PS1 til my thumbs were numb...nd sega genesis was the shizz.....Pokemon, digimon....and things on PBS were the tv shows to watch...

It was cool.

Going fishing with Dad every Saturday on the boat, playing Pokemon Stadium on N64, Playstation 1, recording movies from PayPerView onto VHS tapes, going camping every summer with the whole family, coming in every evening to my mom's home-cooked dinner.

My parents were stoners too, so we always did really fun stuff. (go-karting, 3D movies, fairs, amusement parks) It's amazing how stoned adults and small children enjoy the same activities!

Anyways, that all went down the drain when my mom got addicted to meth. She's off of it now, but we'll never have the life we had back.

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Playing guns in the woods at my friend's house. Playing soccer. Playing SNES and N64. Lego and little green army men. Power Rangers. Boy Meets World. Oregon Trail. Ninja Turtles. Rugrats. Mortal Kombat. Are You Afraid of the Dark?

I can't think of any more. But yeah, the 90s were awesome, and that Growing Up Too Fast thread was depressing

Childhood was the best, having sleepovers every week playing playstation all night long. The weekends were spent playing football. Games like Tony Hawks 2, fifa 98, Gex 3d and road rash were around for the ps1. POKEMON!! Cards and gameboy. At school we used to play hide and seek, but a modded extreme version called SS. Tv was cool with shows such as kenan and kel, bernads watch, smart, the queens nose, blue peter, saturday morning cartoons, the list is endless. And of course there was lego and kenex. So many happy memories!!

I distinctly remember opening Mario 64. I had wanted an Nintendo 64 so badly, but knew no games for it. Thankfully my parents chose well.

So I open the package, and, with my lack of video game knowledge, immediately see a Goom-bah, and shout "KIRBY!".

I later learned it was not a Kirby game, of course.

I have rayman 1 on my ps3, and it still frustrates me like no other game has ever done!

I did the code that gives you 99 lives, and some levels still screw you over where you lose 30 lives before you realise it.

imo Rayman is the hardest game ever made probably by communists or republicans!

yes republicans!

Crash bandicoot and Twisted Metal + tekken 1 was my growing up

that and getting picked on by every kid older than me, that's the reason why I can still remember the early years the trauma!

Getting home from school: AIRWOLF, McGYVER, MATLOC, KNIGHT RIDER

OMG tv was SO awesome back then!
