My second song...

The Ever Fleeing Truth:

Where has it gone, the ever fleeing truth
Searching through space and time for it
Wondering what it’s really worth

It began in mythology then became religion
Pondered in philosophy, will we ever know?
When did it all begin?

The more I learn
The more I know
I know we will never know
The ever fleeing truth

I wonder why
We always try
To answer the impossible
The ever fleeing truth

Sometimes at night, I sit up and wonder
Wandering through my many thoughts
Just so much to ponder

Looking for an answer without a query
Every where I look it’s always the same
They’re all just theories

The more I learn
The more I know
I know we will never know
The ever fleeing truth

I wonder why
We always try
To answer the impossible
The ever fleeing truth

Well first off don't take anything to serious I like cliche love/pain songs about girls.

You said ponder an awful lot and it isn't a very common word so it looks odd being used so many times. I didn't get a lot of rhythm out of this, there was flow sometimes and then it stopped. This needs a lot more imagery/symbolism/flow to be lyrical. This could easily be a conversation. I'd like to hear it as a song with music, maybe I'm wrong you only get so much from reading.

I agree the rhythm is hard to find, I wrote it with a quite unusual rhythm in mind. I just wrote this in about 5 minutes just before I posted it so there is quite a lot of revising ahead. Thanks for the critiquing, it's helped. And I'll do a recording as soon as I have a decent guitar part worked out.
