A) doesn't that thing already have some nice duncans? and B) stick with duncans if you want metal and versatility. go for some 59's, sh-4's, or pearly gates (my favorite, bluesy but sound great with distortion)
Fender 5 String Jazz Bass
Fender Precision Bass
Peavey TNT 115
EHX Bass Big Muff Pi
Daneletro Cool Cat OD V2 (excellent pedal)
Paul Reed Smith SE Custom Semi-Hollow
Peavey Classic 30
Vox V845 Classic Wah Pedal

It has Duncan HB-108 Detonators, i heard they ain't that good, but i may be wrong, and the people who told me may be wrong,

Tons of combos. bridge and neck respectively.

EMG - 81/85, 81/60, 81/89
Seymour Duncan - JB/Jazz, JB/59, Custom/Full Shred, Livewire set, Blackouts
Dimarzio - Super Distortion/PAF Pro, DActivator Set, Drop Sonic/Air Norton

out of these, i boil down my choice to Drop Sonic/Air Norton and Custom/Full Shred combos.
Ibanez RG321MH (Air Classic/Tone Zone)
Fernandes Telecaster (Twang King/stock bridge pickup)
Blackstar HT-20 (Scumback 55 speaker/ Tung Sol tubes)
TC Electronic Nova Repeater
Lava Cables Clear Connect, Soar and Mini ELC

i'd say '59 neck with the sh-4 in the birdge. or a set of pearly gates
Fender 5 String Jazz Bass
Fender Precision Bass
Peavey TNT 115
EHX Bass Big Muff Pi
Daneletro Cool Cat OD V2 (excellent pedal)
Paul Reed Smith SE Custom Semi-Hollow
Peavey Classic 30

None of the above.

Swinesheads.

The AVT isn't the greatest of amps, however Swineshead's website says their clips were recorded on an AVT so presumably they'll sound alright,

You've not given the slightest indication of the kind of sound you want, but I'll guess at a pair of Venoms, or maybe a Warthog in the neck.

My BD has the D'activator set and my SG had the pearly gates/alnico II pro set. They're both completely different beasts.

The BD do the heavys very well and does cleans very nicely but the SG does the cleans/crunch very well and not so hot for heavys.

The D'activators are high outputs while the pearly gates/alnico II pro are vintage outputs. Big differences but the pups has their places.

Swinesheads or Bare Knuckles.

+1

also consider bulldogs and rockmonkeys. Maybe shed pickups too.

you can get handwound pickups for a similar price to machinewound ones. sounds like a good idea to me.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

mine made a bit of a difference with mine, as did my bareknuckles, but yeah, they shine a lot more with a tube amp.

Okay..

So a Swineshead for the Neck..

and a Barenuckles for the Bridge?

i wouldn't necessarily get a bareknuckle in the bridge and swiney in the neck, i'd probably stick to the same company as they're aimed to work together (that might be daft though; if you plan to upgrade the neck to a BK later, but can only afford a swineshead neck now, then i guess it might be sensible enough).

swinesheads are £50 each i think... bareknuckles are £90 or so each.

Sorry

Hmmm...sounds more like a couple of Warthogs maybe.

In all honesty I wouldn't go with Bareknuckles - they're very good but they're also very specialised. You don't really want to be going to a company like BK and spending that kind of money if you don't really know what you want.

Which are better?

If you have any idea?

Bareknuckle: http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/
Swineshead: http://www.swinesheadpickups.co.uk/

A Google toolbar can do wonders, and doesn't take alot of space.

Okay,

thanks
I was going to go all out and spend all that money on some EMGs.. but.. Swineshead seem alright.. .
I might get a Venom on the neck and a warthog on the bridge..

would that work?

And Whats the difference between coated and non coated pickups..

or is the difference exactly that.. :p

^ the wood covers won't affect the sound, just the looks (and the price!). metal covers probably remove a little treble, and a little bit of output, but it's slight.

i'd probably go the other way round- generally you want a lower output pickup in the neck, and a hotter one in the bridge. your best bet is to email swineshead with the tones you're after and see what they recommend.

bareknuckle are probably a little better, but then they're twice the price.
