Ok, so I've been going into Drop C recently on my Les Paul. I have no idea what the gauge the strings are right now, but they're too loose for me. I've decided on picking up some 11's or 12's, but my question is how do I adjust the tension so I can get the same tension as I would if I were in standard with my current ones? Truss rod, maybe? And if I happened to go into standard with these 11s or 12s once I adjusted the neck, could it be harmful to my guitar?

Sorry for the retarded questions!

You could go with the 11's or 12's. You'd have to adjust the truss rod if you want to tune back into Standard.

So once I put the 11s or 12s on and adjust it, I pretty much couldn't go back into Standard unless I reversed the process?

whenever youre having major changes in string gauges you adjust the truss rod. the only problem is i have no idea how to do that.

Yeah, I guess I'd have to take it to a shop, even though theyll rip me off.
